Today I decided to build a paint gun cleaning tray. I used a cake pan as the basis for this project.
First I made a shelf from 20 gauge galvanized steel. The shelf is used to hold the gun and any parts off the bottom of the pan which will collect solvent and paint during the cleaning process. I drilled one or two holes in the shelf to allow the paint and solvent to drain into the bottom of the pan. I removed burrs from around the holes with a counter sink bit. Using a body hammer and dolly, I tapped all of the holes flat.
I decided that 1/2" would be a good distance for the shelf to clear the bottom of the pan. I folded that distance around the perimeter of the shelf as a stand off. The corners of the shelf had to be cut off to clear the slight radius in the corners of the cake pan.

Here is a picture of the completed project.
